The design transforms a heritage Bellman hangar into a dynamic visitor experience, balancing historical preservation with contemporary storytelling.

The RFDS Outback Heritage Visitor Experiences is a dynamic, artifact and media rich immersive museum experience. Colour shifting theatre lighting change from highlighting heritage hangar and aircraft to large film stories of the RFDS and people who depended on their life saving and primary health care service.

Using film, sound, multimedia interactives, animations, Aircraft and set pieces to detail the stories of living remotely in the far west NSW. The origins of the Royal Flying Doctor Service, and the staff who provide the “Mantle of Safety”.

Innovative lighting design shifts the entire hangar from museum display mode to cinema mode, focusing visitors on the film suspended between aircraft. Immersive technologies like the projection mapped animations on John Flynn’s desk create a layered, multi-sensory experience.
