New Zealand Fighter Pilots Museum | Wanaka, New Zealand
Guided by a masterplan formulated by Freeman Ryan Design, the New Zealand Fighter Pilots Museum is undergoing a major transformation. Larger facilities and new exhibitions featuring large-scale multimedia and integrated flight simulations are bringing the museum’s unique collection of historic aircraft to life in ways that have not been possible to date. The masterplan report forms the first part of a staged redevelopment, which includes site development, architectural proposals and interpretive concepts. All requirements of a museum have been planned for including workshops, conservation areas, theatres and administration. The buildings and traffic management have been developed to a level sufficient for a successful Resource Consent application. Stage 1 exhibitions now complete and planning for the new building is underway.
