Baker’s Mews, heritage interpretation | Parramatta, Sydney
Freeman Ryan Design prepared a heritage interpretive strategy and plan for the Baker’s Yard archaeological site in Parramatta in collaboration with curator John Murphy and Order architects for the Parramatta Leagues Club. The strategy and consequent plan aim to convey a sense of the multiple stories of previous residents and uses of the site, as revealed through the archaeological evidence. FRD designed and documented various heritage interpretation components that are staged to lead visitors through the site and to inform them at appropriate junctions. In this way, interpretation and landscape are fully integrated.
