The Gatehouse Visitors Centre is located within the Old Artillery School that operated at North Head from the 1950s to 1998. The design approach ensures all heritage features of the building remain intact and the sense of space remains. The exhibition takes the form of a series of freestanding elements, including a large-scale contoured photographic satellite map of North Head and a multilayered graphic wall. These elements encourage the visitor to explore both spatially and thematically North Head’s diverse history and environmental significance. |
