Asian galleries | Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney
In 2003 the Art Gallery of  New South Wales opened a new Asian wing. One existing gallery was repurposed
for the wing while a new gallery was built in a ‘glass lantern’ extension designed by architects Johnston
Pilton Walker. Freeman Ryan Design was commissioned to design the exhibitions for the wing which incorporate
both thematic and culturally based displays of  art from Asia and a temporary gallery.
